4 Yearly Distribution requirements (YDR) and Satisfactory standards of employment (SSE)
(Pre-tenure faculty) YDR (Tenured faculty) SSE (Tenured faculty) Maintain ongoing employment in the first 4 years Required each year for first 4 years To earn a midpoint merit raise in 3rd year To achieve the rank of tenured Assistant Professor by the end of the 4th year To earn rank of Associate Professor at the end of 8th year To earn rank of Full Professor at the end of 13th year To earn merit increases at years 7, 11, 20, 25, and 30 To maintain ongoing employment for tenured faculty Only available to tenured faculty For tenured faculty who are not seeking rank or merit increases

8 Components of Faculty Evaluation System
General Responsibilities Teaching Observations Assessment of Learning Outcomes Professional Development Student Service College Service (Community Service) Substantive Project ____________________________________________________________ *Requirements for each category may differ between YDR and SSE

9 General Responsibilities
Grades are reported by contractual deadlines Keeping accurate student academic records Holding required office hours Making a reasonable effort to participate in meetings related to his or her teaching function as scheduled by their dean, department head or program director provided they are scheduled during a normal work day and academic year Meeting classes during the time scheduled and for the appropriate length of time required by the Collective Bargaining Agreement Attending Commencement (Job Training faculty must specifically attend Job Training Commencements) Attending Opening Day and School Meetings Participating in Faculty Learning Day Participating in Department/Program Faculty Instructional/Professional Development Make reasonable accommodations as approved by Disability Support Services to meet students’ needs in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Follow College policy on the Family Educational Right to Privacy Act (FERPA) Complete College Compliance Training Some of the above-mentioned responsibilities are exempt for leaves of absence, vacation, school cancellations, and sick days

10 Teaching observations

11 Assessment of Learning Outcomes

12 Professional Development
*Requirements are the same for YDR and SSE* 9 clock hours per academic year Can be done in the summer Plans are not required, but reflection and documentation must be provided upon completion

13 Student Service *Requirements are the same for YDR and SSE*
Participation in departmental advising plan Plans are not required, but documentation of completion is required

14 Yearly Distribution Requirements Satisfactory Standards of Employment
College Service Yearly Distribution Requirements Satisfactory Standards of Employment 30 clock hours of service / year Can be done in the summer Must include: 1 departmental level activity and 1 interdepartmental activity May include community service 15 clock hours of service / year Can be done in the summer

15 Substantive Project *Required for YDR but not for SSE
Minimum of one each year taking a minimum of 15 hours per year to complete having an outcome or product that results from the project Must benefit the Department or College

16 Decision-Making Process
Review of the Faculty Performance Evaluation Plan/Report Review of Portfolios Faculty member submits FPE Plan Plan is reviewed by DH/PD. Once approved… …it goes to the appropriate Associate Dean for Hiring and Evaluation for approval Faculty member submits portfolio Portfolio is reviewed by committee (including DH/PD) Portfolio is reviewed by the appropriate Dean Portfolio is reviewed by the Provost who makes the final decision

17 Eligibility Requirements for Tenure and Promotion in rank
Assistant Professor with Tenure Associate Professor Full Professor Submit Portfolio in 4th year Meet all YDRs Complete New Faculty Institute in first year Complete Online Hybrid Certification Course within first 4 years Submit Portfolio in 8th year Meet all YDRs Submit Portfolio in 13th year Meet all YDRs

“Mid-point” Merit Increases Merit Increases Years 3, 7, and 11 Meet YDRs Years 5,9, and 14 (Accompanies promotions in rank) Years 20, 25, and 30 Meet YDRs
