4 When were the Middle Ages?
850 – 1450 Also known as ‘Medieval Period’ Sometimes talked about as Early Middle Ages and Late Middle Ages Same TIME PERIOD as Islamic World, but a different part of the world Middle Ages = Western Europe, including Britain Islamic World = Arab countries 2 Key Events took place – Crusades (1200) and Black Death (1348)

In your pairs think back to Y7 What can you remember about people’s attitudes and beliefs about Disease? CLUE: 1348 will help you!

6 Watch the following clip
Write down any information that explains what medieval people thought caused disease Think about which factors led to these beliefs

7 People believed in a magical or Supernatural cause and cure of disease They also believed in practical methods Often the 2 ideas were combined
