1 Cards 33-38 Soon after Jesus had been baptized, the Holy Spirit led him out into the wilderness. He ate nothing for forty days and forty nights. With each hour, he grew hungrier and hungrier. The devil knew that Jesus is the Son of God, and he thought it would be great if he could get Jesus to do wrong. He knew that Jesus was very hungry. The devil came and tempted Jesus, “If you truly are the Son of God, change these stones to bread,” Satan said. (Matt. 4:3) FIRST TEMPTATION

Now Jesus knew the land did not belong to the devil. The whole world really belongs to God! So Jesus said, “Get away from here, Satan. The Bible says Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and Him only shalt thou serve”. (Matt 4:10) The devil had not been able to make Jesus do anything wrong. Jesus was too strong for the devil!
