1 Different Types of Coaxial Cable

2 Coaxial cable is a cylindrical cable that is composed of an inner core, insulator, shield and outer cover. It is commonly used to connect antennas with radio transmitters and receivers for cable internet connections, cable television distribution systems, etc. Coaxial cables vary in design according to their end use. Here are some of the different types of coaxial cable:

3 Hard-Line Coaxial Cable
Constructed using copper, silver, aluminum or steel for the center conductor The most heavy duty coax cables Used for radio transmitters requiring high signal strength

4 Tri-Axial Cable Frequently used to prevent data loss in the broadcasting industry More expensive than standard coaxial cables but provides greater bandwidth and less interference Transmits video signals and service signals

5 Twin-Axial Cable Has two central conductors instead of one
Used for high-speed, short-range signalling applications such as computer systems and other mid-range systems

6 Semi-Rigid Coaxial Cable
Comes with a PTFE-supported dielectric and a shield made of a solid conductor Performs well at high frequencies Perfect for microwave transmission

7 Rigid Coaxial Cable Contains two copper tubes and a PTFE dielectric buffer Much bigger than semi-rigid cables Has the power and capacity to operate TV and FM frequencies with multi-channel transmission

8 RG-6 Coaxial Cable Most common type of coaxial cable
Used in the cable television industry Made with copper clad steel (CCS) or with a bare solid copper (BC) center Has a Han 18 AWG (American Wire Gauge) center and 75 ohms impedance
