1 Teacher Appreciation Letters and Certificates

2 Teacher Appreciation Project- This project is one we do every year
Teacher Appreciation Project- This project is one we do every year. Several teachers have let us know how much they loved reading their letters/awards. Everyone likes to hear they are doing a great job. This is your chance to encourage a teacher who has truly helped you. PLEASE DO NOT PICK ONE JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE POPULAR WITH EVERYONE ELSE. Be honest with your selection-pick your teachers because of what they have done and mean to YOU! Create a list of all your CURRENT teachers. Beside each teacher’s name write down at least 1-2 things you like about them. If you can not find anything nice to say, then leave it blank. After you have described them circle your top 3 teachers. Those are the teachers you will be creating a letter/award for. You may NOT write to a 6th grade teacher until you have finished your 7th grade teachers first.

3 Teacher Letter Includes:
Teacher’s Name/Subject taught/ year they taught it. Why he/she is your favorite teacher. What was 1 assignment you did that you really enjoyed? Why? 2-3 things you admire about the teacher and his/her classroom. Some things you have learned from this teacher (academic or other lessons) What are some things you will always remember about this teacher? Use 2-4 adjectives to describe this teacher and tell why you picked those adjectives. Ex: I would describe you as funny and caring. To me, those adjectives truly describe your personality. You always showed how much you cared by… How did he/she make a difference in you life or a difference for you in regards to the subject he/she taught or on a personal level? Embed a quotation in your letter which best describes the teacher. Explain how the quote relates to them and why you selected it. They are from you to the teacher. Do not discuss them with everyone in class.

4 Things to include in your letter: OL
*teacher’s name and subject they teach *school year and period you had them *2-3 things you will remember most about that teacher/subject/class period *1 thing you admire the most about this person *1 assignment you really enjoyed and why *1 thing you have learned from this teacher (Academic/Socially/Personally) *If you could use at least 1 adjective to describe this person to an incoming 6th grader what would it be and why? *Anything else you would like to say to this teacher that you KNOW you wouldn’t/couldn’t say in person.

5 Teacher Awards After picking your top 3 teachers you will create an award to go with your letter. You may create your award on the computer or hand design it. If you design it by hand you may use construction paper. The award must have their name, your name and the name of the award they have won. Ex: best personality, most caring, funniest, most dedicated, encouragement, teacher who listens the most, makes learning fun etc. Make the award personal for each teacher. Design it based on the teacher and what they teach. Don’t forget to add the year they taught you.
