GOD CAN CHANGE HOW YOUR STORY ENDS 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

Big Idea of the Series: God is a master storyteller and He wants to create a story with your life.

WHY IS THE WORLD A MESS?

“If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” ‭‭1 John‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Big Idea: In a messed up, sinful world, God desires to change how our story ends.

“Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” ‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6:9-11‬ ‭ESV‬‬

The question is: Is sin really a big deal to God?

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” ‭Romans‬ ‭3:23‬ ‭ESV
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:23‬ ‭ESV‬‬

It's not about avoiding sin, it's more about acknowledging God as the one worthy of setting boundaries for us.

In order to fulfill the story God has for us, we must acknowledge our sins and reconnect to the author of our story. We must acknowledge that we have a rebellious nature that causes separation from God.

If we want to become part of God's story, we must know that God loves us.
To the extent you know that God loves you is the extent to which you live out God’s story for your life.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 ESV God desired to fulfill a promise in the midst of a sinful world and He desires to fulfill a promise to you in the midst of your sinful world.

God wanted us to take our eyes off our sin and place our eyes on Jesus.
Are you exalting your sin or are you exalting Jesus?

What does it take for us to allow God to change how our story ends?

What have you seen in your own life that suggests things are not as they should be?
Are you ready for God to change how your story ends so He can use you for His story?

APPLICATION: Everyday in 2017, read Romans 12:1-2 “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:1-2‬ ‭ESV‬‬

THEME FOR 2017: Don't judge my story by the chapter you walked in on because God is about to change how my story ends.
