1 Church Leaders: 1 Peter 51-9
The basis for Peter’s appeal to Leaders: verse 1 I’m a fellow-elder: I know the pressures of leading a church. I lived with Christ and witnessed His sufferings, but glory is ahead!! TEAM Together Everyone Achieves More New Testament Churches always had a team of elders. There is no place for only one leader in the church!!

2 Church Leaders: 1 Peter 51-9
The role of Leaders in the Church: verse 2a Elders, Shepherds, Overseers – interchangeable words for church leaders. Elders=seniors with leadership gifts Romans 127 Shepherds=Pastors: feed & care for the flock. Overseers=bishops: servants who watch over the church, with spiritual discernment. vs.8 &9 warn: the devil will attack the flock – so leaders must watch out! [see Acts ]

3 Church Leaders: 1 Peter 51-9
How should leaders minister? – verses 2b & 3. Right spirit: not because you must, but because you are willing. Right motive: not greedy for money, but eager to serve. Right manner: not lording it over people, but examples to the flock

4 Church Leaders: 1 Peter 51-9
Jesus, the Chief Shepherd will return!: verse 4 All believers will face Jesus, the King & Judge, when He returns. But there is a special responsibility on leaders, who are answerable for the way they have cared for the flock.

5 Church Leaders: 1 Peter 51-9
Relationships in the church: verses 5-7. Submission to leaders, who have authority. All of us are to be humble and submissive to one another – as we submit to God. Shepherding/caring can bring anxiety – so leaders must learn to throw all their anxiety on the Lord. Give thanks for the leadership team at Forefront – pray for them, love them, intercede for them, serve them!
