2 AND IF A I R WEIGHT - GRAVITY DRAG THRUST LIFT
Bernoulli’s Principle demonstrates the relationship between air speed and pressure. How / why does that relationship lead to lift? KEY WORDS 1 OR 2 NOTES: (Faster Air/Fluids = Less Pressure) (Over top = Lift) AND IF 2. On the airfoil diagram located on the open response sheet: a. Label: thrust, lift, weight, and drag, as they would affect the airfoil. b. Show the direction of each force using arrows. WEIGHT - GRAVITY A I R DRAG THRUST LIFT

3 3. Explain how an airplane and bird’s wings create lift.
AIRFOIL SHAPE – ANGLE OF ATTACK – THRUST (wings/engines) 4. Explain why must you wind the string toward the thin trailing edge of the wing for the rotor to lift? AIR HIT ROUND / LEAD EDGE – ANGLE OF ATTACK – FASTER OVER 5. Objects that fly come in all different sizes/shapes. A rotor/wing can be heavy or light Explain what can/should be changed to allow for a heavier/larger object to fly just as high as a lighter/smaller one. THRUST– STEEPER ANGLE OF ATTACK – SMOOTH 6. There are many advantages to mass produced items: a. Identify at least one advantage of a mass produced item. b. Why must the fishing line be custom made for each individual? CHEAP – INTERCHANGEABLE– READILY AVAILABLE - UNIVERSAL SHORT = THRUST – LONG = TANGLE
