1 Javelin The Best Little Infrared Thermometer in the non – Contact Temperature Industry Introduction

2 What is it? Sensor Thermopile Detector Housing
Three Wavelengths Available 5 Micron 7.9 Micron 8-14 Micron The Javelin is Ircon’s new low cost stand-alone sensor. This sensor utilizes the proven rugged thermopile detector housed in a stainless steel housing that is only 7.8” X 1.5” dia. It is NEMA 4 or IP 65 rated. The instrument is available in three wavelengths: 5.0, 7.9 and 8-14 microns and has temperature ranges in either C or F. Housing Stainless Steel Small Size – 7.8” Length x 1.5” Diameter NEMA 4, IP65 Rating

3 4 Wire (Not Loop Powered)
Features Power 12 to 26 VDC 4 Wire (Not Loop Powered) The sensor is powered with a standard DC power supply of 12 to 26 V dc input.

4 Features Optical Resolution Close Focus – 8” Standard Focus – 100”
The optics is a fixed focus with two standard resolutions. The close focus lens provides an 8” focal length and the standard lens is a 100” focal length.

5 Specifications Accuracy Repeatability
+/- 1% of Reading or +/- 4°F (2°C) Whichever Greater Repeatability +/-0.3% of Reading or +/- 3°F (1.5°C) Whichever Greater Accuracy - the Javelin accuracy is +/- 1 % of reading, or +/- 4F (2C) whichever is greater. The repeatability is +/- 0.3% of reading or +/- 3F (1.5C) which ever is greater.

6 Features Adjustable with 2 buttons and digital display Peak Picker
Outputs Response Time Emissivity The instrument has several features that can be digitally selected by using just two push buttons located inside of the sensor at the back. One button selects the function and the other is used to set the parameter. The features include a peak picker function to solve the applications where the target is intermittent or there are intermittent interferences. The instrument is as fast as 150 ms but the response time can be adjusted in 5 steps. The emissivity can be set from 0.10 to 1.00 in 0.01 increments.

7 Features Peak Picker Adjustable Decay Rate
0.1, 0.4, 1.0, 3.0, and 10°C or °F per Second The features include a peak picker function to solve the applications where the target is intermittent or there are intermittent interferences. The decay rate selected determines how much temperature detail will be displayed on the indicator.

8 Features Response Time Fully Adjustable Digital
0.165, 0.40, 1.0, 3.0, and 10 Second Response 95% of Scale The instrument is as fast as 150 ms but the response time can be adjusted in 5 steps. In some applications it is better to use a slow response time in order to average out erratic temperatures that cannot be controlled or improved.

9 Features Emissivity Digitally Selectable 0.10 to 1.0 Range
0.10 Increments 7.5 to 8.5 Micron Emissivity T able Target Material Emissivity e Glass Coated Metal 0.98 Painted Metal Recording Tape 0.90 Sandpaper 0.96 4.8 to 5.2 Micron Emissivity Table Target Material Emissivity e Carbon Steel, Oxidized 0.82 Fiberglass - Epoxy forms 0.96 Glass Coated Metal 0.98 Roofing, composition 0.95 The emissivity can be set from 0.10 to 1.00 in 0.01 increments. Note that in some applications the emissivity will vary with wavelength.

10 Features Outputs User Selectable 0-10 VDC Minimum Load Impedence 500KΩ
4-20 mA Maximum Loop Impedence 500Ω It has two selectable outputs of 4-20mA or 0-10Vdc linear outputs.

11 4.8 to 5.2 Microns (Glass Industry)
Javelin Applications 4.8 to 5.2 Microns (Glass Industry) Bending Tempering Annealing Coating The applications for this instrument include: 5.0 MICRON This is the ideal instrument for glass bending, tempering, annealing and coating. It is also ideal for ceramics, fiberglass and oxidized steel.

12 Javelin Applications 7.9 Micron Range Polyester Films PET Bottles
Ceramics Thin Glass Coil Coating lines 7.9 MICRON This instrument is designed for polyester films, PET bottle performs, and thin glass, ceramics, paints, and glass coated metals.

13 Javelin Applications 8-14 Microns Textiles Coated Paper Coil Coating
Food Asphalt 8-14 MICRON This low temperature instrument is ideal for textiles, carpets, food, paint, asphalt, rubber, liquids, paper and cardboard.

14 Javelin Accessories Let’s take a look at some of the options available for the Javelin Product.

15 Javelin Accessories Air Purge 3 CFM Keeps lens clean
The accessories include an air purge for those applications that are dusty. This purge requires airflow of 3CFM when the air is exiting into the atmosphere.

16 Javelin Accessories Cooling Options 0-60°C, w/o Cooling
0-150°C, w/ Air Cooling 0-200°C w/Water Cooling A rugged combination air and water cooler attachment can be easily slipped over the outside of the sensor housing. With air cooling (Air temperature at 77F, 25C) will allow the instrument to operate in environments up to 150C. With water cooling (water temperature 86F, 30C at 15 gallons per hour) the sensor can operate in ambient up to 200C.

17 Javelin Accessories Laser Aiming Read the Correct Temperature!
Battery Powered Attached to Sensor or Air Purge Utilizing a laser-aiming accessory can easily attain aiming of the sensor. This accessory can be put on the sensor directly. It is battery powered and simply threaded on the instrument, aimed at the target and this determines the center of the target being measured by the sensor.

18 Thanks for Attending – Are there any Questions?
CONCLUSION The javelin provides the customer with a simple, rugged, inexpensive stand-alone sensor that is easy to install and can operate in very hostile environments.
