3 Key Factors Established by District and operating since October 2013
Not-for-Profit public ancillary fund for public charitable purposes Company limited by guarantee ATO endorsed as - ‘Deductible Tax recipient’ (DGR); and Income Tax Exempt Fund Must meet Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC) governance requirements Trust Deed and Constitution registered with ATO and ACNC Key Factors Established by KAD February 2013 Not-for-Profit public ancillary fund for public charitable purposes Company limited by guarantee Trust Deed and Constitution registered with ATO and ASIC ATO endorsed as - Discretionary Investment Trust; ‘Deductible Tax recipient’ (DGR); and Income Tax Exempt Fund Must meet Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC) and ASIC governance requirements

5 Foundation Governance
Operates as a company supporting District - 2 way liaison Five Directors (all active Kiwanians & satisfy ATO requirements) 100% value donations - all administrative costs met by District Statutory reporting requirements (ATO, ASIC, ACNC) Governance five Directors (all active Kiwanians who satisfy ATO requirements) Foundation receives donations in two bank accounts: Eligible Projects Fund - Club donations Gift Fund - tax deductible public, corporate and individual Kiwanis member donations statutory reporting requirements (ATO, ASIC, ACNC) and two-way liaison with KAD 100% value of donations as all administrative expenses met by KAD

6 Foundation Fund Raising
2016/17 involves investment earnings from various programs including: District $10,000 grant Voluntary Annual Club Gift Program District Recognition Programs (implementation progressing) Club and member, public and corporate donations Bequests Where funds held in perpetuity and Investment only earnings used for future or potential grant making purposes Fund Raising 2015/16 involves investment earnings from various programs including: KAD $10,000 grant Voluntary Annual Club Gift Program KAD Approved Recognition Programs (implementation progressing) Club and member, public and corporate donations Bequests Where funds held in perpetuity and Investment only earnings used for future grant making purposes

District Eligible Projects - Donations paid to recipients HeartKids Australia ‘Grants-in-Aid Eliminate - MNT (private donations) Ad-hoc (such as natural disasters) Capital Investment Funds - Donations held in perpetuity and invested (interest earnings used for grant making) District Grant Club Annual Gifts Past Governors’ Annual Gifts District Recognition Programs Rising Sun Honour Kiwanis Australia Fellowship (available shortly) Kiwanis Australia Foundation Fellowship Memorial Fellowship (and Memorial Gifts) Bequests Ad-hoc tax deductible Club member, public or corporate donations

8 District Strategies Introduction of new Foundation in 2013 where 1st year and development District provided $10,000 grant seed funding Develop and introduce recognition programs Project funds expected to be available Service programs to children a District priority where More Club development of ‘their’ signature projects Increased Club participation in HeartKids support (national and local programs)

9 District Strategies 2013-18 Enhance the Kiwanis image and brand
A new, additional District Public Relations and Media strategy adopted in 2016 and an appointment made where the Mission is: ‘provide District with a strengthened membership base and a sustainable future by creating by creating a public consciousness via community outreach, media awareness, corporate partnerships and sponsorships’.

Potential to assist Clubs’ fund raising from individual Club members, public and corporate for both current and future new Eligible Projects for Eligible Entities developed by District or Clubs where: Projects are consistent with Kiwanis International Objects and approved by KAD Entities – are charitable at law and an ATO approved tax ‘Deductible Gift Recipient’ operating in Australia Approved projects attract income tax deductions - assists to: Benefits to Clubs Potential to assist Clubs’ fund raising from individual Club members, public and corporate for both current and future new Eligible Projects for Eligible Entities developed by Clubs where: Projects are consistent with Kiwanis International Objects and approved by KAD Entities – are charitable at law and an ATO approved tax ‘Deductible Gift Recipient’ operating in Australia Approved projects attract income tax deductions - assists to:

12 Club Assistance to Foundation
Continue to provide ongoing donations for the HeartKids ‘Grants-in-Aid’ program Clubs to develop ‘their signature’ project or support future District programs that give ‘priority to increasing services to children’ Make voluntary Annual Club gift to the Foundation for investment purposes only Support District’s new Recognition Programs Club Assistance to Foundation Continue to provide ongoing donations for the HeartKids ‘Grants-in-Aid’ program Make voluntary Annual Club gift to the Foundation for investment purposes only Support District’s new Recognition Programs

14 Next Steps Proposal put to District yesterday -
‘To establish a Foundation Development Advisory Group comprising’: Foundation Directors District Board member One other representative and Co-opting District PR and Media Officer (as required) to review how best to ‘enhance awareness of the Kiwanis brand in Australia based existing and potential future District and Foundation strategies Advisory Group to initially prepare Terms of Reference for District Board review at is late September/early October meeting’
