2 psychology Posters and website describe different career paths, including qualifications and job descriptions Alumni and graduates’ stories regarding career development Resources in i-Zone (books on employability) Inform you of opportunities via s, facebook, & plasma screens Within the Psychology department we have prepared information about many different career paths available to you. This is presented in posters (in the i-Zone) and on our website. Please take a look at these when you have a chance. It outlines what qualifications you will need and the sorts of jobs undertaken by individuals in each of these different areas. I hope you’ll find these very useful. We have graduates’ stories and alumni stories that discuss our students’ career development experiences. Finally we will keep some employability resources (e.g., books) in the i-Zone for you to use. In addition, we will inform you of community volunteering opportunities.

(Alternatives to professional Psychology careers) 13:00-14:30 44/1057/LT B 07/06/2013 Making the Most of Your Summer We also work closely with the university Career Destinations Office who put on various workshops to help you to recognise and highlight your skills and strengths to prospective employers, for example workshops on cvs and interview skills and one-to-one cv improvement sessions. These are typically tailored to the needs of psychology students. Note: Intro to Careers session is October 3rd 3:00-4:00 in Shackleton 1041. Career Destinations also provide opportunities to: meet prospective employers (for example during careers fairs), work on placements, and participate in the Graduate Passport Scheme. At various points in your academic career you will find these useful so please look out for notices advertising these on the plasma screen in the i-Zone and from s. I have given you this list of events.

5 After graduation Access to Alumni account Access to Career Destinations assistance Access to eFolio Alumni Account Access to ePortfolio Leavers’ Pack Career Destinations help you with career planning, developing cvs etc. The eFolio alumni account will allow you access to your assignment submissions, assignment marks and module information for life.  ePortfolio allows you to create a web page on which you can include information like a cv, an introduction to yourself, and you can highlight your skills and competencies to potential employers.  Alex Furr will provide more information regarding this and will conduct a workshop at the beginning of semester 2. Much of our careers information in Psychology is summarized in your Leavers’ Packs.
