Background:
Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services (PRS), NIMHANS runs an unique OPD service for rehabilitation on Wednesdays
It caters to the needs of persons with mental illnesses who require rehabilitation inputs
Patients are referred from other units within NIMHANS and other hospitals
This is one of its kinds in India
Increased involvement of patient and family members in decision making and recovery, increased time spent with each patient, decreased waiting time, individualized approach, liaison with NGOs makes this different than normal OPD
We conducted a study to know whether the services we offer to our clients has been beneficial to them

Objective:
To study utility of services to clients attending the rehabilitation OPD
Conclusion:
With Rehabilitation OPD services, the follow up rates of the patients significantly increased (thrice)
IP admissions did not vary
We could meet the expectations of the referring consultant, clients and their family, and consultants from PRS

The files of clients who attended PRS OPD in January 2014 were retrieved from Medical Records Department
We checked if we met the expectations of the referring consultant, clients and their family, and consultants from PRS
