3 Course Description Special Topics in School Facilities is an interactive panel presentation addressing the role and responsibilities of Public K-12 Planning, Design & Construction Managers. The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) Local Facility Planning Process, Funding, Design Process, Site Selection and Approval, and Construction Delivery Methods will all be discussed in detail. Breakout sessions will provide participants with an opportunity to interact with GaDOE staff with respect to several phases of local facility planning. This course is aimed at engaging participants in the Capital Outlay Planning process.

4 Learning Objectives At the end of the this course, participants will be able to: Learn about the Georgia Department of Education’s Local Facility Planning Process. Learn about the various types of funding available to Local School Districts including, State Capital Outlay, Federal and Local Bonds, and Local Educational SPLOST. Explore various techniques and strategies for sustainable school design. Learn about topics relative to a successful Local Facilities Plan and Funding Application for eligible projects.
