3. Fall prevention for elderly people
My Solution:
Most of the injuries in elderly people are happening because of fall in lavatory due to the slippery floor. Some times it causes serious threat to their life.
Dry lavatory is one of my idea to prevent elderly people from falling in lavatory
For elderly people keeping lavatory clean and dry is a tough work. Below idea can help to keep your lavatory clean and dry. It helps not only the elderly but also all users by preventing them from accidental fall. Its simple and affordable solution to keep the elders from falling in lavatory. No need of expensive technological implementation. This idea is purely based on empathizing with elderly people whom I came across.
Its starts with building a bathroom floor in 20 degree inclined position (as shown in the picture)
On the above a flat upper floor is a strong grid like structure with holes in it. Each grid is size of about one square feet. Its removable and easy to clean.
A air blower which helps to quickly dry the water droplets after every lavatory use.
A adjustable steel bar with rubber grip along the two sides of the wall will be very much helpful to use the lavatory for elderly
Idea brief:
Since the upper grid floor has tinny holes in it, the water used in lavatory will not stay in the upper floor, it will fall in to the bottom inclined floor. Due to the 20 degree slop at the bottom, the water will quickly run to the outlet tube. The Air blow will dry out the remaining droplets in the upper floor and keep the floor always dry. Due to this the lavatory floor will never be slippery and people can feel the floor as a normal room floor.
Dry lavatory also keep the bathroom germs free and fungi
