1 a next generation event engine for princeton
a journey towards redesign

2 Getting the right INFORMATION to the right PEOPLE at the right TIME in the right WAY

3 The Redesign Process A UI Designer, as well as OIT’s own UX Office, helped with user research, prototyping, and usability testing A Visual Designer brought the prototypes into Full Color, Pixel-Perfect Designs Usability tests after each Design Sprint helped us tweak the Prototypes Finally, Programmers began the work of implementing the designs in code using Agile methodology

4 User-Centric decisions always put people first
UX design leads with the user’s experience. In decision-making, when there is a conflict of priorities, we give the greatest weight to the user’s experience. –OIT UXO

5 Central to the Redesign
User research with the UX office showed that students use the default calendar that comes with their phones Students need to see relevant events immediately upon opening the app Upcoming deadlines should be given a space on the new home screen to bolster awareness

6 Core Changes Timeline went from being a calendar app to a catalog of events Timeline syncs with the primary calendar of the end-user – Google Calendar, Exchange Calendar, etc. More weight is given to Deadlines Three themes are available: Light, Dark, High Contrast High feature turnover with our new Agile methodology – a new app update every 2 to 3 weeks
