“My World” Themes
We must study the past in order to help us build the future we want.
History starts when somebody writes down what happened. But how accurate are they?
“My Voice” Themes
1. Reading deeply takes special skills and leads to the respect of peers.
2. If you want to be heard, know what you’re talking about. Read. Research.
3. Writing that is worth reading takes time and criticism.
4. English is a difficult language to learn. You have to work at it.

I will work towards mature behavior.
I can identify the key elements of work habits, initiative, citizenship and collaboration.
“My World” Goals
I can compare and contrast river civilizations.
I can harvest information from a textbook and use it.
“My Voice” Goals
I can analyze narrative text for signposts.
I can use reading workshop conferences to be a better reader.
I will write with purpose and focus for 10 minutes every day.
I can write a story that other people really want to read.
