1 (A) Axial T1-weighted image in a young patient with a slowly enlarging right parotid mass shows a round, well-circumscribed lesion of intermediate signal intensity. Also indicated are the parotid glands (P), parapharyngeal space (PPS), internal jugular vein (IJV), internal carotid artery (C), lateral mass of C1 (C1), and the spinal cord (SC). (B) The mass is very bright on a fast spin-echo T2-weighted image with fat saturation. (C) Following gadolinium, the lesion enhances intensely and homogeneously. These are the typical imaging features of a pleomorphic adenoma and this diagnosis was confirmed pathologically. Source: Chapter 3.
