BYOD requirement for all year 9 students started in 2015
Our School-wide wireless network and High Speed fibre optic network is in place
Teachers have been preparing for BYOD and digital classroom learning for the last 3 years
Part of an international trend in changes in the way students learn…..

Good battery life! Greater than 5 hours..
Separate Keyboard from onscreen
4 GB Ram/Memory
Min 120 GB Hard drive ( SSD better )
Strong protective case/cover – tough
Windows or MAC operating system

3. BYOD Considerations
Possible device suppliers are Gary Pye in Waiuku,Noel Leeming, Pbtech, Harvey Norman. ( Trade me/ hand me downs )
The school will have some reserve devices
Students will be responsible for managing device health, charge, security and safety
IT Student support group structures
No other stationery required
Home internet / wireless is good

4. BYOD
MS office is free to all students- will download once school starts
Free software-Malware bytes, Avira anti virus
Best option- full paying version of Malware bytes
No trial software…… pay or delete!
Windows updates each week at home?
Do not connect to wifi when setting up your new computer!! No settings…….
Top – 550 spyware files on device!!

5. BYOD School has filtering, but………( 4G )
2 day induction programme (technical and social implications)
Ongoing support through Y9 option – tech
Family support essential with safe use……
No thefts of BYOD devices 2015
