34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together.
35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment.

39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

To fail to love God with everything you’ve got with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength is wrong, and is sin.

To love others as Jesus loved us is right.
To fail to love others as Jesus loved us is wrong, and is sin.

11. Truth to Take with You
If we love God and our neighbors as we should, we will do what is right and avoid sin.

Make it your #1 priority in life to love God with everything you’ve got. Make it your #2 priority in life to love others as Jesus loved you.
