4. Opportunities/Best Practices To Share
Joint TCs mid-year meetings offer great interaction opportunities and improve effectiveness
Developed a new cross-TC Working Group to coordinate work related to Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) including the Materials, Structures, NDA, MDO and Systems Engineering TCs -- intent is to integrate this as a key element of the newly forming “Digital Engineering Program Committee”
Panel discussion after “keynote lecture” worked very well
STEAM outreach activities lead by one TC but open to members of all TCs
Documentation/Guidelines in place certain AD&S group activities connected to new even model:

Selection of SciTech AD&S Student Paper Chair

5. Issues/Concerns/Challenges For TAC Action
Interaction with other technical societies is diminished
SDM Conference had tie-ins with ASME, ASCE, ASC, AHS
Interactions seem more limited under the SciTech model
2017 SciTech abstract submissions dropped—need to further investigate causes and possible actions (some TC working on it)
Availability of teleconference-capable system in TC meeting rooms during SciTech
Still missing coordination among the various Groups within SciTech
Missing opportunities for cross-listed sessions; similar theme session overlap
AD&S ad-hoc committee to review its 5-6 Conferences within SciTech and recommend further improvements/integration
2017 Aviation is in the same week as ISSMO World Congress causing conflict for MDO papers—possible future coordination?
