2 LASEK FOR ANISOMETROPIC AMBLYOPIA IN CHILDREN: 1-YEAR OUTCOMES
Purpose: To assess the refractive, visual acuity, and binocular results of LASEK for anisomyopia, anisohyperopia, and anisoastigmatia in children with various levels of amblyopia secondary to the anisometropic causes.

3 LASEK FOR ANISOMETROPIC AMBLYOPIA IN CHILDREN: 1-YEAR OUTCOMES
Method: retrospective review of 53 kids with Lasek for anisometropia 3 groups: Myopia diff >3D Astigmatism diff >1.5D Hyperopia diff >3.5 D) Follow up for 1 yr at least and refractive status, VA and binocular vision check at 2, 6 and 12/12

4 LASEK FOR ANISOMETROPIC AMBLYOPIA IN CHILDREN: 1-YEAR OUTCOMES
Results: mean age at treatment was 8.4 yrs (10mts-16 years) mean preop anisometropic diff was 6.98 D in entire group: 9.48 D in the anisomyopic group, 3.13 D in the anisoastigmatic group 5.50 D in the anisohyperopic group

5 LASEK FOR ANISOMETROPIC AMBLYOPIA IN CHILDREN: 1-YEAR OUTCOMES
Results: One year after LASEK mean anisometropic difference decreased to 1.8 D 2.43 D 0.74 D 2.33 D 54% of all eyes were within G1.00 D of the fellow eye; 68% within G2.00 D; 80% were within G3.00 D

6 LASEK FOR ANISOMETROPIC AMBLYOPIA IN CHILDREN: 1-YEAR OUTCOMES
Results: Preop VA and binocular vision measured in 33 kids. Postop, 63.6% of kids had an improvement in BCVA and remainder no noted change. No patient had a reduction in BCVA or a loss in fusional ability after LASEK. Of 33 kids, 39.4% had positive stereopsis preop and 87.9% 1 year after LASEK.

7 LASEK FOR ANISOMETROPIC AMBLYOPIA IN CHILDREN: 1-YEAR OUTCOMES
Conclusion LASEK is an effective surgical alternative to improve VA in anisometropic kids unable to tolerate conventional methods of treatment or in whom these methods fail.
