3 1. Introduction RA II setup this project to:
Encourage RA II Members to appoint National Focal Points and submit EGOS National Reports annually, Identify gaps and prioritize actions listed in EGOS-IP through reviewing the progress of EGOS-IP in RA II, Develop a Portal to share the progress of EGOS-IP Implementation of RA II Members.

Aims and scope The aims of this project are classified as two aspects: To identify gaps and prioritize actions listed in the EGOS-IP through reviewing the progress of the Evolution of Global Observing Systems (EGOS), The progress and experiences are shared by RA II members when implementing the EGOS-IP.

6 4. Accomplishments 4.1 Web portal development
A portal for sharing the national progress of EGOS-IP implementation was established by CMA Meteorological Observation Centre (MOC) and will be tested by the members of RAII. The portal has following columns, namely Home, News, Info, EGOS-IP, Download, Publisher, Comments and About us. The users need to register to the site when they use key functions.

8 4.2 Evaluation indexes design
The evaluation indexes are divided into seven aspects: management, integration, observation capacity, products, standardization, data quality and acquisition, cooperation. According to the concept and purpose of WIGOS and EGOS-IP, the RA II EGOS-IP evaluation indicators, a total of 100 points, have been initially developed, as shown in the table below.

11 Improve data accessing capacity and data quality(25)
Improve the capacity of accessing data and products generated by WMO observing systems. Enhance the capacity of the Global Observing System (GCOS), Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS) and the Global Terrestrial Observing System (GTOS) in data and products generation, with a particular emphasis on the availability of the data and products generated by the satellite, radar, wind profilers, aircraft systems, ARGO program and other new technology systems . 5 Encourage more investment in scientific research to improve the accuracy of basic observation data (calibrated and absolute accuracy) Improve the data processing procedure and the quality control at all levels of data products. Strengthen the verification and comparison of meteorological variable-based products in terms of authenticity Improve quality and level of data management

12 Strengthen cooperation (10)
Strengthen cooperation with users. Encourage and support the application of observation data and products to various fields by a variety of users, especially climate; Support of and involvement in users’ experiments with impact of observation data on different application fields while providing guidance on where and how the observation system would evolve; provide a good mechanism to meet the observation requirements by WMO Members, partners and multi-field users. 5 Strengthen cooperation with scientific research organizations. Encourage, support and participate in scientific research to develop new observation systems; support the cooperation between research and operation in observation and various activities to promote the translation of scientific research results into operation; support and participate in the application of new observation data and products to various fields.

13 5. Next steps National focal points to be designated.
Web portal framework to be finalized. National focal points on EGOS-IP from members will be invited to test the portal. Evaluation indicator to be endorsed and posted to the portal; Progress report template to be determined and posted to the portal. The national progress report about EGOS-IP implementation will be requested to upload to the portal. The whole assessment of implementation progress for RA II will be performed.
