7 Design and Methods A population based descriptive study.
Data for this report was collected prospectively. This report is based on observation during Kumar et al 2005

8 Design and Methods Data on the HIV infected pregnancy is routinely collected form ANC at QEH. HIV screening data is obtained form the lab at QEH. Kumar et al 2005

9 Design and Methods Prevalence- dividing total no. of HIV pos. women with total no. of pregnant women screened. Incidence- dividing total no. of newly detected HIV pos. women by total no. of pregnant women screened. Kumar et al 2005

17 Conclusions The prevalence and incidence of HIV among pregnant women have shown significant decline since 1999. Uptake of antenatal VCT have been over eighty percent since 1997. Kumar et al 2005

18 Conclusions Repeated pregnancy in HIV pos. women remains a challenge.
Downward trend in the HIV incidence among the pregnant women may have been due to the impact of the HIV/AIDS prevention programs. Kumar et al 2005
