3 What is Fast Track? An accelerated leadership development programme for teachers in their early years Provides a highly personalised programme of coaching, mentoring and development activities Supports teachers in developing skills required for a senior leadership role in education

4 Benefits – to a qualified teacher
Access to professional development events specially created for Fast Track teachers Funding towards NPQH and Leadership Pathways and support for AST applications Access to a structured support network of staff – through an in-school mentor, independent PLT and Central Support Team

5 Benefits – to a school/ LA
You will have a teacher that takes on extra responsibilities which have a whole school impact and will take on a Senior leadership position sooner Fast Track teachers are encouraged to disseminate their experience and skills to colleagues Supports the development of talented teachers into senior leadership roles – helping to grow tomorrow’s leaders It supports recruitment by giving access to a national pool of Fast Track teachers It provides secondment opportunities within the LA

The programme is based around the following development opportunities and support structures: Professional Development events Wider School Focus Support and mentoring The Fast Track community

Including (see website for full list): Consulting and influencing skills for leaders NLP for teachers and school leaders Coaching for leadership Creative leadership

8 Wider School Focus Needs to provide a direct link with and opportunity for progression on to NPQH and/or AST assessment The work needs to be an area that will create genuine change and links to improvement priorities Should enable a Fast Track teacher to apply to Development stage of NPQH within months of being started

9 Wider school Focus Managing move from parent’s evening to parent’s review day Implementing ‘assessment for learning’ scheme Implementing an accelerated learning scheme Leading ICT teacher across the network Member of School Change Team

10 Support and mentoring Personal Leadership Tutors In-school mentor
Independent of the school. Set-up visit and termly telephone coaching sessions In-school mentor An experienced leader or senior manager within the school. Key supporting role in the leadership work of Fast Track teachers Central Support Team Liaison with schools Guiding Fast Track teachers in their choice of teaching posts

11 The Fast Track community
Talk2learn – collaborative learning through the provision of: Learning journals Hotseats Discussion forums E-learning activities Networking with other Fast Track teachers at residential courses or regional events

12 Eligibility To be eligible for Fast Track, qualified teachers require:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK To be registered with the GTCE To be pre-threshold on the main pay scale

13 The Recruitment Process
Apply on-line by completing the Self-Assessment Questionnaire and filling out the competency based application form. Accessed through our website at Applications must be supported by a reference from the teacher’s headteacher or performance management team leader One day assessment centre
