1 THE POWER OF PRAYER I KINGS 18:1, 41-46

2 Isaiah 65:24 “Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.”

3 Spiritual Principles of Prayer
Prayer activates the Word of God Elijah’s prayers were tied to God’s Word If you don’t know God’s Word, you don’t know how to pray

4 James 5:16-18 “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.”

5 Elijah Hears a Storm Coming
Your proximity to God will determine what you hear Many of us want to hear from God while keeping our distance from Him

6 Elijah Climbs Mount Carmel
He finds a place to be alone with God He “labors” in prayer because he is about to “give birth” to a miracle When you need God to do something extraordinary in your life, you need to get into a position of labor

7 Looking for the Answer Elijah sent his servant to look 7 times
Sometimes God doesn’t give you the answer all at once – He let’s you see a little preview (V.45) “Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rain came on and Ahab rode off to Jezreel.”

8 I Kings 18:46 “The power of the Lord came upon Elijah and, tucking his cloak into his belt, he ran ahead of Ahab all the way to Jezreel.” (15 Miles)

9 Isaiah 40:31 “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
