President’s Welcome Welcome APIC IN members I am excited that we are able to provide an opportunity for all of our members to attend this meeting. Our goal for today is to provide each one of you with a better understanding of APIC Indiana Leadership and the committee work that supports our chapter. As you have seen Infection Control is a critical component of Healthcare and the importance of our roles continues to expand. Proving why it’s so important now more than ever to be an active member of Indiana APIC. I encourage you to become more involved with your regions, state, and / or national level.

Board of Director’s Role
Governing body of the Chapter Establish chapter policy for conducting the business and management functions of the Chapter Oversee committee activities Authorize the official acts of the elected officials and committees Approve the slate of candidates for the ballot Direct the business and financial affairs Foster growth and development of the organization Keep well informed on the activities of the chapter Attend all APIC Indiana Board meetings

APIC Indiana Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is charged with the overall responsibility of conducting the affairs of the chapter in the best interest of the membership and making interim decisions regarding chapter affairs. The Executive Committee is composed of the President, President-Elect, Past President, Treasurer, & Board of Director representative Committee responsibilities Direct the business and financial affairs of the chapter Foster growth and development of the chapter Establish administrative policy Assist the President in the structuring of committees Review committee reports and determine action to be taken Approve large budgetary allocations as submitted by the Treasurer Approve fund raising functions Serve on committees as assigned Determine recipients of all scholarships

President’s Report Upcoming education
This years 2017 National Conference was held in Portland, Oregon. President’s Report Indiana Society for Healthcare Engineering (ISHE) has partnered with APIC, Weas Engineering and Indiana Kentucky Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters (IKORCC) to offer an Infection Prevention for Healthcare Symposium. The Symposium will be held at the IKORCC facility located at Greenwood Springs Drive Greenwood, IN on September 14, 2016. The Healthcare Infection Transmission Systems (HITS) 2017 Conference will be held September 13-14th, 2017 in Ann Arbor,Michigan.

APIC IN Strategic Alliances
Indiana APIC Chapter 076 has long recognized the need to partner with strong organizations such as AORN, ISDH, IHA, ISNA, ISHE, and IKORCC to improve the quality of our healthcare. This year APIC National Nominating and Awards Committee (NAC) selected our chapter to receive the 2017 APIC Chapter Excellence Award for Synergistic Alliance – Large Chapter. Thank you to Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters (IKORCC) for there generous sponsorship of the Indiana National Conference Dinner. The award was accepted at the National Conference by Chapter Officers. The award included a $500 gift certificate that had to be utilized in the book store at the National Conference. To benefit all members, the gift certificate was used to purchase books for our chapter library.

Indiana Chapter 076 Bylaws Revised and approved by APIC Indiana BOD and Members in 2016 Bylaws are approved by the National APIC Office and governed by a template - Bylaws will be updated on the APIC Indiana Website in the next couple of weeks.

Indiana Chapter Handbook The handbook is used as a tool that is specific to the Indiana Chapter. The Handbook is currently being revised and is scheduled for approval at the BOD meeting in October.

Membership Committee Download the APIC IN membership rosters from the APIC website. Distribute new members names, addresses and city to Region Directors so they can contact and welcome them. Send a welcome to new members with information about our chapter, regions and website. Respond to member and potential member’s s that are directed from the APIC website. Provide member lists to the APIC IN website coordinator for website access. Assist APIC IN board as needed with verification of members or other projects.

Nominating Committee Open positions for 2018 President Elect
shall serve for a term of one year, or until a successor has assumed office. This position is actually a 3-year term as the role progresses through President Elect, President and Past President Secretary 2-year term or until a successor has assumed office Board of Directors 3 positions up for election all three are a 2-year term “Willingness to Serve” & “Meet the Candidate” forms are due September 1, 2017. Forms are available on line at completed forms to Ballot will be open for voting early October

Program Committee History
In 2013 Dr. Charles Palenik, who had been the Program Committee chairperson for several years, requested a person to assist him and learn the position. Anna Roe, who had been a part of the program committee, manning the registration table for a couple of years before 2013, was the person who agreed to learn the position. After the 2013 fall program, Charles Palenik resigned and Anna Roe became the Program Committee Chair. The Program committee functions as a team and currently has 6 members.

The Program Committee functions as a team. The positions include: The Chairperson (Anna Roe) who: Finds a venue large enough for attendees and works with the event planner to pick dates for the meetings (Thursday evening board meeting as well as the pre-conference and actual conference) Signs the contracts, maps out space, orders food (breakfast, snacks and lunch), assists with ordering tables for vendors and the silent auction Works with the IT Company to order the appropriate AV equipment and load presentations during the conference During the conference this position acts as the MC, makes sure that the program is running smoothly and staying on time during the conference and checks the final bills For future conferences speakers are secured and corresponded with to get their information in order to develop the brochure

This position makes the name badges and distributes, collects, and tallies the evaluations and mans the table Sherri Robbins acts as a liaison during the conference to make sure that attendees have a comfortable environment and acts as the program photographer Rhonda Blevins, current APIC IN treasurer , collects registration forms with payment, works at the registration table, and pays the bills Sally Young is the vendor facilitator who collects their registration, orders vendor tables, and makes sure that they are present and have what they need Shawn Richard acts as the ISDH liaison All members meet after each conference to consider evaluations and plan for topics and speakers for the next meeting

Public Policy Committee
The APIC public policy program monitors, analyzes, and guides legislative and regulatory proposals at the federal and state levels to protect patients and promote evidence-based policies. Role of the Committee Environmental scanning for changes to policies Make recommendations to Board of Directors on policy issues Facilitate lobbying efforts on impending policy issues Participate in revising regulations Current activities: Proposed changes to the Indiana Hospital Licensure Rule Infection Prevention Section ACA repeal lobby efforts (specifically targeted at CDC and NHSN funding

Award Requirements Abstract must include a well-defined PICOT question: P – Problem I – Intervention C – Comparison group (could be comparing project data to previous year’s data) O – Outcome (hypothesis) T – Timeline for project completion Award recipient will be required to submit an abstract for presenting the project findings (oral or poster presentation) at APIC national conference or present project findings at APIC Indiana educational conference, and / or publish study results in a peer-reviewed journal Executive committee will select recipient based on number of applications and relevance to current infection prevention trends and needs. Consultative guidance will be provided to recipient based on proposed subject matter and available resources. Award amount will fluctuate to meet project need but will not exceed $1000. All expenses over $100 will be paid by the treasurer when possible to the vendors and any under will be reimbursed upon receipt to the treasurer. Recipient may only receive award once

The Indiana Health Alert Network (IHAN-IN) is a mass notification system intended to distribute health alerts to healthcare providers and public health professionals across the state of Indiana. REGISTRATION Registering is as simple as logging on to the web site and entering the information requested. Select “Register Now” button on the home page to begin the registration process.
