3 FALCON DRAMA CLUB BELIEVES…
…In the importance of building self-confidence through the areas of creative thinking, problem solving, leadership skills, and more. We believe in focusing on the process of theater, which will lead to a quality production.

4 Drama Club Meetings: -We will meet every Wednesday (unless noted otherwise on the calendar) from all remaining to 5:00pm. -Club activities and rehearsals are closed to parents. Information will be sent out for all activities that are parent friendly. -Pick up will be at 5:00 pm at the 8th grade doors. Please be on time to pick up your child. -3 late pickups=dismissal from drama program

9 AUDITION & CASTING TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED FOR FEBRUARY 15 & 16
Must attend one night of auditions Preselected song and cold read (tentatively) Pick up once completed NO changes to appearance once cast without director approval Director will the cast list. Must accept role and be ready for that role. PARTICIPATING IN DRAMA CLUB, OR JUNIOR THESPIANS, DOES NOT GUARANTEE A ROLE IN THE PRODUCTION

10 Junior Thespians -The International Thespian Society (ITS) -Founded in An honorary organization for high school and middle school theatre students located at more than 4,200 affiliated secondary schools across America, Canada, and abroad. -The mission of ITS is to honor student achievement in the theatre arts. -ITS is a division of the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA).

11 How to Be Eligible for Induction
ITS provides a Junior Thespian point system to help determine induction eligibility. Students must earn 10 points (50 hours) to be eligible for induction. Students who have participated in a production, or two weeks of theater camp, in the last 3 years will be eligible for immediate induction until August 30, 2017

12 Junior Thespian Expectations
Be an active member and participant of Drama Club 1 Lead by example during all drama club related activities 2 Maintain above a “c” average 3 Attend Junior Thespian events 4 Exhibit character and integrity on and off the stage 5

13 Junior Thespian Point System
· One point represents approximately five hours of excellent work. Use this formula in awarding points for items not specifically listed in the point system. · To become a Junior Thespian, a student must earn ten points, the equivalent of fifty hours of work. Five of those points should be acquired at the school where he or she is to be inducted. · Induction points should be earned through participation in at least two full-length productions, or one full-length and two one-acts, or four one-acts. · Induction points should be earned in at least two of the listed categories, for example, acting and production. · At the troupe director’s discretion, students may earn up to five points toward induction through participation in community, children’s, elementary school, or professional theatre. · Junior Thespian membership is offered to all students who qualify. No student can be elected into the troupe, and no student can be denied membership if he or she has fulfilled all membership

14 Benefits of Junior Thespians Inductees
· Membership in the only international honor society for junior high/middle school theatre arts students—a recognized demonstration of achievement and a valuable addition to college and employment applications. · An official Junior Thespian induction pin. · A personalized membership certificate. · A personalized membership card. · A bumper sticker that reads: Proud parent of a theatre arts honor student. · Ability to begin their high school careers with half of the Thespian points required for high school induction. · Leadership opportunities at the troupe and chapter levels (per chapter policy). · Eligibility to participate in individual events at chapter conferences and the National Individual Events Showcase (NIES) at Festival (per chapter policy). · Eligibility to receive Junior Thespian honor items (medallions, point stars, etc.). · Eligibility to receive Junior Thespian scholar distinction for academic achievement.
