1 Wouldn’t it be great if all your equipment, software and devices worked together, right out of the box? thinks so, too.

2 Benefits: Infusion Pumps
Standards-based interfaces Reliable & accurate data transmission Reduced cost of product development, installation and maintenance Supports complex reimbursement rules for infusion therapy with accurate documentation

3 Point of Care Infusion Verification
Supports electronic transfer of an infusion order from the BCMA/EMR to an infusion pump Brings infusion pumps into the 5 Rights of medication administration process Enhances patient safety by eliminating keystroke errors Reduces time spent by clinicians on medication administration & documentation

4 PIV Workflow Nurse removes medication from dispensing cabinet
Nurse confirms the 5 Rights using BCMA/EMR: Right Patient Right Medication Right Dose Right Time Right Route Nurse removes medication from dispensing cabinet Physician’s order Pharmacist review & dispensing Nurse scans bar code on pump linking: Patient Medication Pump Infusion order sent from BCMA/EMR to Pump (PCD-03) Pumps can provide data to BCMA/EMR (PCD-01 or PCD-10)

5 Infusion Pump Event Communication (IPEC)
IHE PCD Proud Participants Infusion Pump Event Communication enables reporting of clinical & operational events from an infusion pump to a Bedside Computer-assisted Medication Administration (BCMA) system or EMR. Clinicians can then view & validate this information for infusion documentation. BCMA/EMR Prior to medication administration, nurse confirms the 5 Rights of administration using BCMA/EMR: Right Patient Right Medication Right Dose Right Time Right Route Infusion order sent from BCMA/EMR to Pump (PCD-03) Infusion-related events are displayed, validated, and/or recorded by the clinician using the BCMA/EMR Pump provides information on infusion-related events to BCMA/EMR (PCD-10) such as: Delivery Start Delivery Stop Delivery Complete
