1 Variant Type of Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome with Diffuse Cerebral White Matter and Brainstem Involvement Associated with Intracranial Hemorrhage  Yin-Xi Zhang, MD, Yang Zheng, MD, Bi-Jun Zhang, MD, Yun Zhang, MD, Mei-Ping Ding, MD, Bao-Rong Zhang, MD  Journal of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases  Volume 25, Issue 12, Pages e233-e235 (December 2016) DOI: /j.jstrokecerebrovasdis Copyright © 2016 National Stroke Association Terms and Conditions

2 Figure 1 Cranial computerized tomography scan revealed a diffuse hypodensity in the brain stem and patch-like hyperdensities in the pons consistent with hemorrhage (A). Brain MRI showed high signal on T2-weighted (B) and fluid-attenuated inversion recovery imaging (C) in the semioval center and brain stem, with a normal intensity on diffusion-weighted imaging (D) but an elevated apparent diffusion coefficient (E), indicating vasogenic edema. Susceptibility-weighted imaging indicated small round lesions with low signals scattered around regions microbleeds (F). Brain MRI obtained 1 month post treatment revealed an almost complete resolution in both supratentorial area and brain stem (G, H). Abbreviation: MRI, magnetic resonance imaging.
