7 Important Training Topics
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) & Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) Hazardous Materials (HazMat) & shop safety Lock-out/tag-out Daily “tool box” talks for proper shift hand-off Weekly shop meetings with Maintenance Manager

8 Preventive Maintenance Inspections
What is PMI? Preventive Maintenance Inspections PMI is more than just oil changes Everything is inspected & specific components are replaced as scheduled

9 PMI Basics Know the fleet Do research before performing repairs
Understand manufacturer specs Do research before performing repairs Schedule repairs based on Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards

10 PMI Basics Mechanics should use proper forms/checklists to document inspections Track inspections & repairs in detail so there are no assumptions

11 PMI Basics Ensure thorough & accurate documentation
If it didn’t get written down, it didn’t get done Consistent, accurate information flow proves the vehicle is safe when it is put on the road Files should be in audit-ready state at all times

12 Quality Assurance 10% “re-rack” of all internal repairs
For external repairs, maintenance manager/foreman reviews repairs & documentation regularly to ensure quality Abide by OEM standards – NEVER cut corners Just because you find a cheaper part doesn’t mean you save money in the long run

13 Benefits to the Process
Thorough PMI results in better-performing fleets Goal: All vehicles available for service at all times, with all equipment in good working order

14 Exceeding Industry Standards
