3 Prep review Compose a duet for two trumpets
Choose 5 or 6 pitches only and use them in your duet. Start with only one or two pitches You should include: Long and short notes Additive melodies Melodies which add more notes as they develop Antiphony Hints The best compositions use some melodic development. How could you develop your musical material? Like your minimalist compositions, less is more! Use two or three simple rhythmic ideas and see if you can develop them and extend them

4 Prep Peer Assessment Does it use two trumpets?
Does it use 5 or 6 pitches? Does it start with just 1 or 2 and gradually add more pitches? Does it include a range of different note lengths? Is there antiphony? Write two things you like musically about it Write one thing you think would improve it

6 Building tension Think of at least 4 ways to build tension in music
In pairs create a list of at least 6 ways to build tension Share your list with the class

7 Using a mode Create a mode with 5 or 6 notes
The melody should use exclusively these notes to start with Using notes from your mode, Create 2 or 3 chords you like the sound of Create 2 or 3 four-quaver melodic patterns which outline each chord
