The Gospel of Matthew The Leaven of the Pharisees 16:1-12 Jewish Leaders request a sign (cf 12:38). – Here “sign from heaven” – “signs of the times.” Sign of Jonah (cf 12:39-40). – Here with no reference to “three days.” “Leaven” confusion (vs. 5-12). – Mk 8:15 “And of Herod” – Lk 12:1 “hypocrisy.”
