4. CRITERIA FOR BEST PRACTICES
Cement-NAMA Proposal : “Reducing CO2 and Closing the Waste Gap; Encouraging Waste-to-Energy in the Indonesian Cement sector”
Objective: to increase the use of alternative fuels from industrial and municipal solid waste
Mitigation potential up to 3.8 million tCO2 until 2020
What makes it unique: Involvement of private sector; low budget needed; High commitment from cement companies and its association (ASI)

5. Best Practice – EIE development
Nation- wide planning (legislation adopted: nawa cita, RIPIN, quick wins, etc)

7. Opportunities: Development of Industrial Estate-NAMA
Facts: waste has always been a major issue in Indonesia  waste to energy as one of the solutions.
Overall idea: exchange materials or energy to mutual advantage.
All new industries are obligated to located in IE  diverse types of industrial waste
IE as the “provider” of industrial waste (and the treatment facility)
Majority of IE still use the conventional end-of-pipe measures , but the interests to have zero emission efforts are there!
Ideas are already informally “proposed” by the cement industry.
