6 Fairtrade Bake Sale!!! When: This Friday the 28th April during break
Where: In the atrium at the bottom of the main stairs Why: To raise money to buy Fairtrade supplies and win another Fairtrade award for Lasswade High School. Please show your support by coming along to buy a tasty treat or by baking something for the sale. See Miss Steele in room 119 for more details. Group members remember to come to room 119 this Thursday for a quick meeting before the bake sale on Friday!!!

U17’s fixture at Dunbar- Bus leaves school at 3.45pm (5.30KO) Friday S1/2 Bus leaves school at 1.15 pm-Squad will be selected. U16’s Meggetland. Bus leaves school at 12.30pm. pm-Squad will be selected. Saturday S1,S2 and u15’s – Meet at Preston Lodge 9am. (9.45 start) U16’s and u18’s- Meet at Musselburgh (Pinkie playing fields) @9am (9.45 start). THERE IS NO BUS FOR THESE EVENTS SO PLEASE MAKE YOUR OWN WAY. ANY ISSUES WITH TRAVEL SEE Mr McCARTHY.

13 The library is looking for volunteers for during the summer holidays
Role of a volunteer Help and encourage younger children to complete the Summer Reading Challenge Assist the library staff with events such as crafts, displays and prize giving Be available at least 4 times over the summer holidays Important stuff… Volunteers should be going into S3 or above You can volunteer in any Midlothian Library – not just Lasswade Want to get involved or find out more? Speak to any member of staff in the library to get a short application form Hand in your application form by Wednesday

14 Thursday lunchtime in the library.
S1 and S2 Children’s University Passport holders… Come along to a meeting with Hayley from Queen Margaret University. She will be giving lots of advice on activities, filling in your passport and getting involved in events at the university. Thursday lunchtime in the library.

15 U17’s fixture vs Dunbar next Wednesday evening (26th 5.30 KO @Halhill)
Bus leaves school at 3.45pm. This is a game for all of the boys who are old enough from this years u16’s and young enough from this years u18’s .

16 World Challenge – Group 1
There is a meeting for all group 1 challengers Wednesday (26th April) lunch time in room 219. Come along at 1.15pm and bring your lunch with you. It is important that you all attend. Please speak to either Miss Ludbrook or Miss McGuire beforehand if you are unable to make it. Lost Property We have a growing number of unclaimed jackets and other items which need to be reunited with their owners. Students should ask at Pupil Reception if they are missing anything. Lost property is kept at Pupil Reception for 2 weeks, then held in the School Office for a further 2 weeks and thereafter disposed of.

18 Iceland 2018 Any pupils taking Geography in who are interested in coming to Iceland in June 2018, see Mr Tuft in Room 120 at lunchtime (1.05) on Tuesday 25th April.

Plumbing Apprenticeship Arthur McKay, Bilston Industrial Estate, Loanhead In this Modern Apprenticeship you will receive training in all aspects of commercial plumbing and heating: reading design plans: removing old and installing new bathroom fitments in an occupied building: diagnosing faults in hot and cold water pipes, central heating systems, waste disposal and sanitation systems: mending leaks, unblocking drains, repairing toilets: choosing the right kind of pipe or joint: working with plastics and metals such as copper, aluminium, zinc and lead: cutting, bending, welding and soldering piping: weatherproofing and maintaining ronepipes and guttering and other metal parts of roofs The 4 year training process involves a combination of college and on site training, leading to an SVQ Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering Services (MES) Domestic Plumbing. Requirements. A minimum of 4 National 4/5s to include Maths, English, a Science subject and a Technical subject.   How to Apply For more information and a link to the Arthur McKay apprentice application form go to Applicants must pass an entrance test set by SNIPEF, which is the training body for work in plumbing. Heating and Ventilation Apprenticeship Arthur McKay, Bilston Industrial Estate, Loanhead Learn how to install, repair and maintain systems such as central heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, refrigeration and gas. A heating and ventilating fitter works in commercial or industrial premises as opposed residential, fitting large scale boilers and working in miles rather than metres of piping. This apprenticeship programme combines college and on-site training over 4 years leading to an SVQ level 3 qualification and the title Heating and Ventilation Engineer.    Requirements. A minimum of 4 National 4/5s to include Maths, English, a Science subject and a Technical subject.   How to Apply You must first apply to BESA, which is the training body for work in building services, to sit the BESA test. Electrical Apprenticeship Arthur McKay, Bilston Industrial Estate, Loanhead The work of an Electrician is varied and can include the following: installing and maintaining cables, wiring, conduits, fitments, meters, switchgear and other electrical equipment: using a variety of hand and power tools to measure, cut, join and fit cabling, wiring and equipment of various types: reading plans and technical drawings and working from them, in large projects; installing the wiring and electrical components in complex electrical and electronic equipment:testing installations to make sure that they are effective and completely safe, diagnosing and repairing faults in installations and electrical equipment The four year apprenticeship consists of a combination of college training and on site experience leading to a final FICA test and an SVQ level 3 in Electrical Installation. Requirements. A minimum of 4 National 4/5s to include Maths, English, Physics and a Technical subject.   How to Apply You must first apply to SECTT, which is the training body for electrical work, to sit the SECTT test.
