Genesis Teaches Fall: Loser Genesis 3:8-24

“I find it difficult to understand how it is possible for anybody really to read this third chapter of Genesis and not at once to recognize that here we have nothing but a perfect description and delineation of what has been true of every one of us…how could we not say ‘That must be true because that is exactly what I’ve been and what I’ve done. It’s an account of me; it’s an account of men and women as I see them in the world today.’” Martyn Lloyd-Jones

SEPARATION

SEPARATION Genesis 3:7 Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.

SEPARATION Genesis 3:8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

SEPARATION Genesis 3:9 But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.” 11 He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?”

Psalm 139:7 Where shall I go from your Spirit?
SEPARATION Psalm 139:7  Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? 8  If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! 9  If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, 10  even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.

SEPARATION Genesis 3:13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

RESTORATION

RESTORATION Hebrews 1:1 Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.

RESTORATION Galatians 3:16 Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, “And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one, “And to your offspring,” who is Christ.

RESTORATION John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

RESTORATION Revelation 21:22 And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb.

RESTORATION Hebrews 9:11 But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) 12 he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.

RESTORATION Genesis 3:20 The man called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.
