2. Suggested activities
This is aimed at KS2 . (You will find stories of forgiveness that may link into this on theforgivenessproject.com however not all the stories there are suitable for young children please carefully select or adapt the material if you are using this site. These are just suggestions there are many ways to use this powerpoint.
L2 – as you watch the PowerPoint what stories or sayings of Jesus do you recognise. Chose what you think is the most important thing Jesus said or did about forgiveness. Retell this and then say how this might effect the way a believer lives their life. Discuss with your partner is it easy to forgive?
L3- Look again at the slide of Pope John Paul 11. Find out what happened to him. Why do you think he was ready to forgive the person who hurt him. What teachings of Jesus might he have been trying to live out? Is it easy to forgive? Explain your reasons. Make a link between the story of Nemo and the story of the lost Son. What do you think they are trying to teach us. (when scaffolding tell the opening of Finding Nemo in a way that emphasises links)
L4- If someone is a Catholic what should their attitude to forgiveness be? In your answer you must make reference to at least 4 Stories/sayings/incidents from the life of Jesus. Would this teaching be hard to follow? How could staying angry rob us of happiness? Look at the example of one person who has tried to live out forgiveness. Why did they do this? How did forgiving help them? This might possible also be L5 AT2ii
