Using MariaDB with asynchronous multi-master replication
Users have same view of the portal at each location
Can select a location to visit or be routed via geographic load balancing

Metadata cache using Apache Cassandra for improved performance
Visualisation Pool Manager
One instance per location which distributes visualisations across local servers
Can automatically create new visualisation servers on OpenStack if desired
