3. Roles and Responsibilities
Rounding in Hospital w/ attending – 700 am
Colonoscopies/EGDs most mornings – will let you assist
Dictate progress notes and write orders with overview of attending
Clinic: 900 am – 5ish pm
Notes on patients you see
Most in office procedures on your patients – injections, biopsies, lesion removals, suturing, etc
Prepare to be frustrated by the EMR for 1-2 weeks
On call 1 night per week, 1 weekend per month with attending
See pts in ER before attending and able to write some orders
Dictate H&Ps
Most Tuesdays or Wednesdays – different surgery teams will allow you to assist
General surgery (port placements, hernia repairs)
Orthopedics (knee/shoulder replacements, arthroscopies)

4. Living arrangements 3 bedroom house – fully furnished
30 second walk from the hospital
Maid service on Fridays
Dope backyard
Might have 1-2 roommates
PA/nursing students
Maybe an IT lady and her kids

5. Things to do in Superior
Food
Pizza Hut, Subway, Dairy Queen
Sweet Mexican restaurant where they serve a bunch of meat inside of a hollowed-out pineapple, and other things
Ideal Grocery Store (only place that sells fresh fruit)
Shopko with food (but only sells carbs)
Casey’s General Store (cheapest milk + Icees + non-Pizza Hut pizza)
Dollar General (don’t go here, it’s where dreams go to die)

I heard there’s a movie theater in town
And that’s it, so study (watch Netflix)

7. Closing Thoughts
Overall, a great place to do your 3rd year Family Medicine rotation
The providers are great people, knowledgeable, and allow you to perform a lot of procedures to get you experience
The patients have good diversity of problems, but you still are able to hone your skills on the main family medicine problems weighted heavily on the shelf
You will work hard, but you will learn a lot
