2 “Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross” (Philippians 2:1-8).

3 “Let This Mind Be In You”
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5).

4 “Let This Mind Be In You”
Loyalty To Will Of God

5 Loyalty To The Will Of God
“And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross” (Philippians 2:8).

6 Loyalty To The Will Of God
1) Jesus’ first recorded words. “And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father's business?” (Luke 2:49).

7 Loyalty To The Will Of God
2) At His baptism. “And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?” But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him” (Matthew 3:14,15).

8 Loyalty To The Will Of God
3) When tempted by Satan. “But He answered and said, “It is written… (Matthew 4:4); Jesus said to him, “It is written…” (v. 7); Then Jesus said to Him, “Away with you Satan! For it is written…” (v. 10).

9 Loyalty To The Will Of God
4) In Gethsemane. “Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.” He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will” (Matthew 26:38,39).

10 Loyalty To The Will Of God
5) He tolerated no departures. “Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying, “Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.” He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition?” (Matthew 15:1-3).

11 “Let This Mind Be In You”
Loyalty To Will Of God Mind Of Service

12 Mind Of Service “but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men” (Philippians 2:7).

13 Mind Of Service 1) His self-denial.
“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men” (Philippians 2:5-7). “who, existing in the form of God, counted not the being on an equality with God a thing to be grasped” (v. 6 – ASV).

14 Mind Of Service 1) Self-denial.
Reputation – “meaning to empty oneself, to divest oneself of rightful dignity by descending to an inferior condition, to abase oneself” (Complete Word Study Dictionaries – New Testament). Bondservant – “He took the characteristic attributes (morphēn as in Phil. 2:6) of a slave. His humanity was as real as his deity” (Word Pictures in the New Testament).

15 Mind Of Service 2) He served.
“And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave--just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:27,28).

16 Mind Of Service 3) He humbly served.
“Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded” (John 13:3-5).

17 Mind Of Service 4) Ultimate service rendered.
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep…As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep…Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father” (John 10:11,15,17-18).

“Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven” (Matthew 18:21,22).

21 Mind Of Forgiveness 2) His prayer.
“Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots” (Luke 23:34).

22 Mind Of Forgiveness 3) To receive forgiveness.
“And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors… “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses” (Matthew 6:12,14,15).
