We are looking for a student who is interested in magnetic materials research.
Shell-ferromagnetic nano-precipitates can be grown by decomposition of an off-stoichiometric Heusler alloy by annealing under a magnetic field. The pinned magnetization of the shell of the precipitates is stable up to high temperatures and magnetic fields. Unique magnetic hysteresis loops are observed which make this material interesting for magnetic information technology and sensorics.
As a part of our team your task will be:
Preparation of Heusler alloys.
Decomposing the alloy at different temperatures and annealing durations.
Magnetic characterization of nano-precipitates as a function of annealing duration and temperature using
SQUID magnetometer
Ferromagnetic resonance analysis
pinned shell
