1. Roll Over Beethoven
Early British rock took many American pop and rock songs as “Cover Tunes”.
Beatles were no exception.
Chuck Berry tunes were played by most of the bands. For this exercise we will do Roll Over Beethoven.

2. Double Stops Just a term for playing 2 notes at a time.
Chuck Berry made these famous.
Intervals used most are 4ths, 3rds and 6ths.
For your playing to play more modern make use of other intervals.

6. Think of this chord while playing the song.

Either version is good to think of but the first one really fits the idea better. The root will be on the 1st string.

Here are some common patterns to try. 5th fret 1st and 2nd
Strings. Go from 5th fret 2nd and 3rd strings to hamminging
Onto the 6th fret of the 3rd string.

8. Notice that it starts on the & after 3.
Count & & & etc.
Pull off on each string
Use your 3rd finger to barre these

9. Slide from 7th or 8th fret using the 3rd finger
Slide from 7th or 8th fret using the 3rd finger. Note the 3 pattern 2 times to 2 pattern.
Note additional note to add more to the lick and build.

10. See how the off the beat adds.
These are all ½ barres. 7th fret use 3rd finger, 8th fret pinky and
5th fret your index finger. At the end you are just holding down the A chord.
