“Song of the Trees”- Great Depression
Before reading the short story “Song of the Trees,” watch the BrainPop video about the Great Depression to learn more information about the setting. Follow the directions below to complete the activity. Open the BrainPop app and make sure to login with the username and password information. Username: Password: Find the search button at the bottom of the app, click on it, and type Great Depression. A number of related videos will pop up, click on the one that says Great Depression. Click play and be sure to take notes as you watch the video. After the video has finished playing, you will have the option of replaying the movie or taking the quiz. After taking the quiz, take a screen shot and show your results to your teacher for documentation. This task uses: Common Core/NG Standard(s): RI Analyze the interactions between individuals, events, and ideas in a text (e.g., how ideas influence individuals or events, or how individuals influence ideas or events).
