4 Learning Outcomes At the end of this session you will:
Be familiar with the transition differences between high school and college. Understand the the Professor Notification Letter (PNL). Identify services provided by CDS/SNAP. Consider the campus support services you will utilize this coming semester. Find out about the different workshops sponsored by CDS/SNAP.

5 What should I expect at CofC Bridge?
Transition Differences College High School Laws Guarantees access. Guarantees success. Responsibilities Students take the lead in monitoring class attendance, completing homework, and knowing course progress. Parents and teachers tend to play active roles in monitoring attendance, homework, and course progress. Classroom Expectations Effort is important, but results matter; academic performance must satisfy the goals and objectives of the course and/or the degree program. Good effort often counts and will be highly considered as a final grade.

6 What should I expect at CofC Bridge?
Transition Differences College High School Instructors Likely to discuss an upcoming assignment one time, but expects the student to use course syllabus. Likely to discuss upcoming assignments and provide reminders about completion. Communication College faculty and staff strongly prefer speaking with the students about any student-related matters. Teachers and counselors are very likely to have open discussions with parents/guardians. Social Environment Students are expected to manage their time and balance academic and social life. Teachers, counselors, and parents tend to monitor student’s time and progress.

How would you describe the student in the first video compared to the student in the second video? What was your impression of each professor? What could the student in the second video have done differently?

11 A few takeaways… Even if you are not comfortable sharing it is important to know how your disability affects you. Understanding your disability helps to guide how you talk to your professors about your needs and what accommodations are most important. Make an appointment with the TTC Disability Services staff member who approved you for services if you have any questions before or after speaking with your professors.
