1 Galatians the freedom letter 10-9-11

2 What ‘s the deal with the angels?
Gal 3:19) Why then was the law given? It was added because of transgressions, until the arrival of the descendant to whom the promise had been made. It was administered through angels by an intermediary. Acts 7:53) “who have received the law by the direction of angels and have not kept it.” What ‘s the deal with the angels?

3 Heb 2:2) For if the message spoken through angels proved to be so firm that every violation or disobedience received its just penalty, 3) how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, Heb 1:4) having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. The book of Hebrews states clearly, that Jesus, the author of the New Covenant, is better than the old covenant. This is the reason for the comparison.

4 5) For to which of the angels did He ever say: “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You”? And again: “I will be to Him a Father, And He shall be to Me a Son”? 6) But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: “Let all the angels of God worship Him.” 7) And of the angels He says: “Who makes His angels spirits and His ministers a flame of fire.”

5 8) But to the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. 9) You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.” 10) And: “You, LORD, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands.

6 13) But to which of the angels has He ever said: “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool”? 14) Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation? The whole point here is so obvious; Compared to THE PROMISE, angels and the Law are inferior. So why go back to it or make it a part of your Christian experience?

7 Law delivered through angels
The promise delivered through God Himself!!!!! Heb 1:1) GOD, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2) has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;

8 Now, what’s the deal with Mediators?
20) Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one. The “but” here refers to two opposites, “everyone knows that a mediator mediates for two,” but God is alone on this new covenant. He alone is the mediator. Now, what’s the deal with Mediators?

9 Mediation always involves 2 parties and there are mutual obligations and responsibilities agreed upon by both. (labor and management in union contract disputes) The law contract needed a mediator because there were 2 parties, God and the Jewish people. The contract was only valid if both parties fulfilled the terms. Jer 31:31) “Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah– 32) “not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the LORD. Exodus 19:8) Then all the people answered together and said, “All that the LORD has spoken we will do.” So Moses brought back the words of the people to the LORD.

10 “The Promise contract however, unlike the law, is absolute and unconditional: Its fulfillment rests totally with the One who made it, God! On God alone rests the entire responsibility to fulfill the details of the covenant.” (Ron Merryman, Merryman ministries Galatians God's antidote to legalism p.54)

11 With the new covenant, God alone mediates it
With the new covenant, God alone mediates it!!! Inferior: the law with Moses and angels Superior: the promise with Jesus!!! Don’t go back to the inferior, or mix it with the superior. Move on with the superior. Don’t live by immature things, these are “dead works”.

12 Is the law against the promise? Is the Law antagonistic?
These next two verses sum up what the entirety of the New Testament is teaching Galatians 3:21) Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! But we know that a veil lies across their eyes and the natural man cannot receive the things of God, since these things are spiritual discerned (2 Cor 3:14-16; 1 Cor 2:14) Is the law against the promise? Is the Law antagonistic? Is God at war with Himself since He made both? Can we hold both law and promise at the same time?

13 For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law. When we receive the new covenant under the blood of Jesus, then we begin to see that God does not contradict, nor does Jesus or Paul but all things are summed up in one verse…

14 Galatians 3:22) But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
