I like a nice cup of tea in the morning For to start the day, you see, And at half past eleven Well, my idea of heaven Is a nice cup of tea. I like a nice cup of tea with my dinner And a nice cup of tea with my tea, And when it’s time for bed, There’s a lot to be said For a nice cup of tea

2 British national drink
Tea is very popular with the English. It may almost be called their national drink. Tea is welcome in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening. The English like it strong and fresh made.

3 Black and Herbal Tea Most people in Britain drink tea with black leaves although now herbal teas which do not contain caffeine are becoming more popular.

4 Some historical facts The British and tea are inseparable. 8 out of 10 people in Britain drink tea every day and Britain imports about 20% of all the world’s tea. Tea makes up about half of all that a British person drinks. Tea has even played a part in British literature and history. Tea didn’t come to Europe until 1610 and was introduced to Britain in 1657 by Catherine of Braganza, King Charles П’s wife. But by the 1800s, the exotic drink became so popular that special ships (“clippers”) were designed to bring it quickly from China.

5 Tea Clipper Races In the middle of the nineteenth century, the new tea clippers raced every year from China to Britain. The clipper races were an exciting and popular sporting event.

7 Recipe of a good Tea The British are very fussy about how their tea is made. The teapot must be warmed before the tea is put in, the water must be boiling properly, the right quantity of tea – “one spoon for each person and one for the pot” must be used and the tea must be brewed for three minutes.

8 Iced Tea Iced Tea was made in
St. Louis, for the first time in It’s a very refreshing drink! Place 2 teaspoons of tea leaves per cup into hot water. Stir, strain, and pour over ice cubes. Serve with lemon slices and sugar.
