Colonists are greatly outnumbered, and are forced to retreat. 2. The English force Washington's troops back across the Delaware 3. Washington's army is greatly depleted

British Officers: General Lord Charles Cornwallis Troops: 1,400 Hessians Americans Officers: General George Washington Troops: 2,400 American Men Outcomes The Americans won the battle 16th of the British troops remained after the battle

British Officers: Charles Cornwallis Colonel Charles Mawhood Troops 1,200 soldiers Americans Officers: George Washington Troops 4,500 Continentals and militia Outcomes Washington wished to continue attacking up the chain of British outposts in New Jersey The victory at Princeton helped strengthen American spirits after a disastrous year for New York Washington lost 23, 20 wounded, British casualties were heavier and numbered 28 killed, 58 wounded, and 323 captured

Washington lost due to leaving right flank open 2. The continental Congress abandoned Philadelphia 3. On September 26, 1777 British troops marched into Philadelphia unopposed

British Officers: -General John Burgoyne Troops -4,000 redcoats -3,000 hessians -1,000 Mohawk Native Americans Americans Officers: -General Horatio Gates Troops -Minute Men Outcomes -Turning point of the war -England changed their war strategy Burgoyne's Plan -Meet Howe's troops in Albany -isolate New England from the other colonies Why the British Lost -Burgoyne's troops were carrying unnecessary goods -Had to travel through harsh environments -Food supplies ran low -How wasn't coming to meet him -Forced to surrender at Saratoga
