2 Definition Globalization is a process of interaction and integration among the people, companies and governments of different nations, a process driven by international trade and investment.

3 CHARACTERISTICS MULTINATIONAL CORPORATIONS have global reach and increasin power. Multinational corporation is a company which has its headquarters in one country but has assembly or production facilities in other countries. E.G. Coca-Cola, Nike or Santander.

4 CHARACTERISTICS TRAVEL AND SHIPPING are cheap and safe.

5 CHARACTERISTICS GOVERNMENTS have decreased tariffs and regulations on international trade. International trade: the exchange of good and services along international borders.

The are international organisation that promote free trade between members: UN (United Nations) WTO (World Trade Organisation)

Other associations: WORLD BANK: fight against poverty giving loans and economic advice to developing countries. IMF (International Monetary Fund): favours economic cooperation and gives loans.

10 ECONOMIC BLOCS FREE TRADE ZONE: the countries that belong to this zone do not have tariffs on the products they buy from other members. Tariff: A tax imposed on imported goods and services. Tariffs are used to restrict trade, as they increase the price of imported goods and services, making them more expensive to consumers.
