3 Objective Objective: Identify and catalogue iconic or major extreme events, in 5 impact categories (drought, fire, flood, temperature extreme, wind), for each of 13 communities (later changed to 15). Document economic impacts, risk reduction activities, and efficacy of activities. Sub-tasks Database of extreme climate-related events for the 5 impact categories associated with each community Gather impact information (as available) associated with each event, including: economic costs, damage reports, response actions and procedures, and lessons learned. Deliverable: Inventory of major natural hazard events that have occurred in WAA communities since 1960, with a focus on recent years, an emphasis on trends and iconic impacts, and a catalogue of associated actions.

(This can be found in two different ways) How much did the Fourmile Canyon Fire in Boulder County cost? What were other impacts? What unique equipment will Park City use as a firebreak if needed? How did Salt Lake City respond to severe flooding in late May-early June, 1983? What useful flood documents does Boulder have? Find them in the resources folder. When was the regional heatwave in 2013? What were some of the impacts in various cities? Go to the National Weather Service (NWS) webpage on Heat in the Southwest. How many people, on average, die from heat each summer in the greater Phoenix area? What is the name of Arizona’s dust storm awareness campaign?
