1 Year 1 and 2 Coffee Morning Focus: Maths
Aims to develop understanding of the mathematical areas to develop knowledge and understanding of the four operations

2 Mathematical Areas Number: Geometry number facts
four operations-addition, subtraction, division and multiplication fractions Geometry shapes-2d/ 3d area/ perimeter angles

3 Mathematical Areas Statistics: Measurement charts and graphs data
averages Measurement length weight area capacity

4 Focus: Number Number facts: Times tables 2-12
Place Value-rounding, ordering, near doubles 4 operations

5 Addition- Year 1 100 Square identify/circle the biggest number
Count forwards (across to the right) the amount of the smallest number Circle the number you land on. The last number you land on is the answer. Ext – to add ten you move down Number line Circle the biggest number Jump forwards the amount of the smallest number. Circle the number you land on, this is your answer.

6 Addition- Year 2

7 Subtraction - Year 1 100 Square identify/circle the biggest number
Count backwards (across to the left) the amount of the smallest number Circle the number you land on. The last number you land on is the answer. Ext – to subtract ten you move up. Number line Circle the biggest number Jump backwards the amount of the smallest number. Circle the number you land on, this is you answer.

8 Subtraction - Year 2

9 Multiplication – Year 1 Lots of (Groups of)
The first number is the amount of circles drawn. The second number is the amount of dots in each circle. Count the dots altogether to find the answer. Repeated addition Start the number line at zero. The first number is the amount of jumps on the number line. The second number is the amount of dots in the jumps. Ext Put the numbers in the jumps instead of dots. Arrays The first number is the amount of dots downwards. The second number is the amount of dots across.

10 Multiplication – Year 2

11 Division- Year 1 . Sharing The second number is the amount of circles.
The first number is the amount of cubes. Share the cubes equally into the circles. The answer is the amount in one circle. = 3 Short Division used for I digit numbers

12 Division- Year 2

13 Year 1 Expected Standard
Children need to be able to: Know their number bonds to 10 and 20. Know their 2,5,10 times tables by heart Form their number 1 – 20 correctly. Count to and across 100 forwards and backwards Identify one more and one less Recognise common 2d and 3d shape Addition 54 then subtraction. 80 = 26

14 Year 2 Expected Standard
Children need to be able to: Partition two-digit numbers into different combinations of tens and ones. E.g 23 = 2 tens and 3 ones OR 1 ten and 13 ones. Add 2 two-digit numbers within 100 e.g Using concrete apparatus or pictorial representations. Estimate to check that their answers are reasonable. Subtract mentally a two-digit number from another two digit number e.g. 73 – 33 Recall and use multiplication and division facts. Use inverse relationships between addition and subtraction. Convert , times by Division then subtraction £1 / 5= 20p. £1.80/4=45p =25p

15 Ideas for home Shopping - make a list, calculate the cost
Rounding in the supermarket Days out plan your route, time, cost Cooking- time, weight Ask questions What, why, how? Show me
