Experience
Derrick Williams joined Robert W. Baird & Co. (“Baird”) in December 2005 as co-founder and Director of its newly established Financial Services Investment Banking Group focusing on banks and thrifts, specialty finance and other companies in the financial services sector. Prior to Baird, he was a Principal at Legg Mason and a Vice President at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey in Financial Services Investment Banking. He began his career in investment banking as an Associate at UBS Securities LLC (UBS Investment Bank). Prior to entering investment banking, Derrick worked at Pfizer Incorporated and Manufacturers Hanover (JPMorgan Chase).
Derrick has completed more than 50 transactions including mergers and acquisitions and financial advisory assignments and equity and debt offerings (both public and private) for financial services companies. Merger and acquisition advisory services have included transaction initiation, negotiation assistance, advice with respect to transaction structuring and process, fairness opinions, ESOP and merger valuations. Capital offerings have included public and private issuances of capital including follow-on/secondary and initial public offerings, preferred stock, convertible preferred, trust preferred and senior and subordinated debt.
Derrick received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Yale University in 1990 and his MBA from the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia in 1997.
